StateFair 2013

Yes, it’s that time again. Time for corny dogs, turkey legs and anything that can be dipped in batter and fried. That’s right it’s time for the State Fair of Texas. Of course, there is much more to the State Fair than fried foods. Popular attractions include the Auto Show, musical performances on the Silverado Main Stage, and my personal favorite the pig races.

This year, the State Fair will welcome a brand new Big Tex. The Fair also welcomes back the Chinese Lantern Festival. The festival gates will open on September 27 with the opening of the State Fair of Texas. The State Fair operates 24 days and closes on Sunday, October 20.

Festival operation continues through January 5, 2014. This year’s show incorporates 24 spectacular lantern displays. Festival organizers have themed the festival “Light a New Dream” and they promise an even more impressive display. Guests will marvel at a spectacular imperial dragon boat. Stretching more than 300 feet in length, this royal craft will welcome passengers aboard in the middle of the lagoon.

Gate admission to the State Fair of Texas is $17.00 for adults and $11.95 for children and seniors. Seniors ages 60 and over. Children age 3 up to 48” in height. Children age 2 and under – Free. You can save by ordering advance tickets online.
