The new independent book store, Legacy Books at the Shops of Legacy in Plano hosted the February meeting of Corporate Concierge, Inc.
Legacy Books is a 24,000-SF, independently owned and operated bookstore whose arrival marks the first opening of an independent retailer of new books on this scale in the Dallas / Fort Worth area in decades and, according to the American Booksellers Association, the largest opening in the US “in memory.”
The three-level bookstore carries approximately 100,000 titles, including the ABA’s IndieNext selections and staff favorites, and will report sales to regional and national publications.
Specialty areas include:
300-SF demonstration kitchen with Wolf appliances for culinary events, adjacent to the 1,500-SF Legacy Books Café
1,100–SF event area with seating for 80. For larger events, expansion into the adjoining business area seats approximately 150.
Legacy Books features custom fixtures in a comfortable contemporary interior designed by Morrison Seifert Murphy. MSM has won more than 30 awards from the American Institute of Architects’ Dallas Chapter and the Texas Society of Architects.
Teri M. Tanner, Managing Partner of Legacy Books, has almost 20 years’ experience in bookselling with Borders Group, Inc. and Barnes & Noble Booksellers. For Borders, she served as Sales Director, Regional Director and Director of Human Resources for Stores. Prior to joining Borders, she was a General Manager and District Manager for Barnes & Noble.
Legacy Books is an anchor for the expansion of The Shops at Legacy, at the northeast corner of Legacy Drive and the Dallas North Tollway.
