“This is my new favorite restaurant! I can’t wait to come back!” – resounding words from a table of “well-tasted” Dallas concierges. This is a typical response to the Bolsa experience.
Walking through the doors presents intriguing juxtapositions – edgy and cozy, hip yet undemanding, radical though established, Oak Cliff but Brooklyn. The decor appears refined during the day, ethereal at night. An obvious place to lunch and the perfect spot for an intimate dinner.
After comfortably seating our large group on the patio, the palette courting began. We started with a beautiful Bruschetta quartet, an array of delicious salads and a distracting selection of flat-breads. We were already glowing when our second course of Seared Sea Scallops and Peking Duck Breast arrived. Each dish better than the last – I can’t even write about the desserts without getting dizzy.
Chef Graham Dobbs has changed the way Oak Cliffian’s (and the rest of us) experience food. Bolsa’s dedication to serving the best-tasting local, organic fare at surprisingly reasonable prices makes us all really really lucky.
Bolsa, which means “bag” in Spanish, is a little place that holds great things inside. Bolsa is located on Davis just west of the Bishop Arts District in Oak Cliff in a historic building known as Settles Garage. The location in Oak Cliff was chosen based on the sense of community that exists in this somewhat eclectic, bohemian neighborhood, which is a perfect match to the Bolsa experience. Bolsa, like the local streets of Oak Cliff, is just minutes from Dallas but a world away from the big city crush.
The service and food were beyond expectation. It was an amazing and memorable dining experience!
