Rubber Duckie, You're the One

Summer is here and the time is right for some hot fun in the summertime. Even though the Texas summer can be hot, there are many ways to stay cool and enjoy all your summer in the Dallas Fort Worth area.

Our Corporate Concierge members have a few cool ways to have fun in DFW this summer.

Best Patio in DFW

One of the best best ways to enjoy a relaxing afternoon is on a restaurant patio, with a cool glass of sweet tea, or a margarita and some tasty appetizers. For relaxing with friends and an incredible view of downtown Dallas, nothing beats the patio at Hotel Belmont.

Jessica Lowry, Account Manger for MyConcierge at TI suggests Gloria’s in the Bishop Arts District, Jonathon’s in Oak Cliff, Ozona Grille on Greenville Avenue and St. Pete’s in Deep Ellum.

Cassie Points, Corporate Concierge|Conference Center Manager-Lincoln Plaza also likes the patio at Ozona.

Best BBQ in DFW

Smoked BrisketTexas is known for its barbecue. And Dallas offers you several excellent choices for great brisket, ribs and baked beans. Maybe even a little peach cobbler, with Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream on top!

Pecan Lodge recently moved to it’s new location in Deep Ellum, but you may still have to wait in a long line. Believe me it is worth the wait.

Jessica Lowry suggests: Hardeman’s Barbecue in Cedar Hill, a small, cozy spot in her neighborhood. She also likes Lockhart’s Smokehouse.

Best Burgers in DFW

Here's another shot of Hamburger!Who can say ‘no‘ to a juicy hamburger? Even if you are not a carnivore, there are black bean burgers, veggie burgers and portabello burgers. In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, there is a burger for just about every taste.

The recent burger trend has seen several new burger restaurants opening up in the area. These are a few of our favorites:

Dee Lincoln’s Steakhouse and Burger Bar in Uptown Dallas. On our last visit, I enjoyed The Cowboy Burger, with a few of their delicious sides. I highly recommend the .lobster mac-n-chesse and the cast iron chorizo corn. You might like to try the Lamb Burger or the Turkey Burger. They also have a Tuna Burger with grilled pineapple, tempura nori and smirch aioli, as well as an Eggplant Burger, served with mozzarella, house made marinara, arugula and parmesan aioli.

GoodFriend Beer Garden and Burger House, in East Dallas is another popular place for burgers. Along with their selection of tap, bottled and  local craft beers, GoodFriend serves hearty menu of appetizers, sandwiches, salads and of course burgers.

Place to take out of town guests

Northpark CenterYou can warn them about the Texas heat, but friends and relatives are bound to come to town for a visit. Before they start complaining about the heat and melting into the sidewalk, take your out of town visitors to these cool spots:

One of the best thing to do on a hot summer’s day is to shopping at NorthPark Center. You can spend the afternoon window shopping or enjoy a nice meal at Luna de Noche  or take in one of the summer blockbusters at the AMC Theaters.

You can spend a day exploring the wonders of nature and science at the Perot Museum. Jessica Lowry says “Museums are a great place to stay cool this summer. You an enjoy the art and have a nice lunch in one of the cafes.” Visit the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center and Crow Collection of Asian Art in the Dallas Arts District.

Other great places to visit Bishop Arts District for shopping and dining; as well as the Sixth Floor Museum.

Cool summer treats

Summertime on Navy Pier, ChicagoAmy Booth, Corporate Concierge at Lincoln Center suggests Pokey-O’s (near SMU) for delicious ice cream snacks.

Cassie  likes Paciugo on Gaston Avenue in Lakewood. She also suggest  Wild about Harry’s on Knox Street and having a root beer float at the Highland Park Soda Fountain  & Drugstore on Knox Street.

Great Place for Kids (besides the Perot Museum)

It is almost time for the kids to go back to school. Why not spend the remainder of the summer by having a family fun days at Target First Saturdays in the Arts District or flying a kite in Klyde Warren Park?

Cassie Points suggests  Summer At The Arboretum. It will feature Family Fun Fridays, which include face painting, a petting zoo, nature art and Kindermusik. Best of all,  general garden admission  at the Dallas Arboretum is just $1 during the entire month of August and free admission to the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden on Labor Day.

These are just a few ideas we have to stay cool in Dallas-Fort Worth this summer. What are some of your favorites?
