2.    Don Giovanni  By Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart  – May  22, 30  & June  4

Mozart’s take on the infamous scoundrel Don Juan, but with a twist. Don Giovanni is a playboy who loves and then leaves women at a shocking rate, despite the warnings of his faithful servant. When young and beautiful Donna Anna catches his eye, an old flame, Donna Elvira, sets out to stop him from taking advantage of her. But all hell breaks loose when Don Giovanni crosses the line.

3.   The Elixir of Love  By Gaetano Donizetti  – May  23, 28 &  June 5

A delightful comedy about love…and cheap wine. Great date opera. Nemorino is too shy to tell Adina that he loves her, but Belcore boldly asks her to marry him. Nemorino gets some of Dulcamara’s secret elixir (merely cheap wine in disguise) to help him woo the young beauty. When the elixir wears off, he can’t afford to buy any more. Dulcamara tries to sell it to Adina instead, who then realizes that she doesn’t need any elixir to make her love Nemorino.

4.   Before Night Falls  By Jorge Martín – May  29 &  June 6

World Premiere. Based on a true story about a tortured Cuban poet, who narrowly escaped from a government determined to keep him quiet.  As Reinaldo Arenas lies dying of AIDS in New York City, he remembers his home in Cuba as Fidel Castro takes power. A counter-revolutionary and homosexual, he is prosecuted by the state for having his manuscripts published outside Cuba. After a period of imprisonment and torture, Reinaldo’s friend Lazaro receives permission to leave the country, but Reinaldo must find a way to escape to America. After learning he has a fatal disease, Reinaldo rushes to finish his memoirs and Lazaro stays by his side until the end.
