Burn the Floor

April 5 – 17 • 2011: The international dance sensation Burn the Floor visits Dallas at the Music Hall at Fair Park direct from its record-breaking run on Broadway! You’ve seen Ballroom dance on shows like “Dancing with the Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance.”

From Harlem’s hot nights at The Savoy, where dances such as the Lindy, Foxtrot and Charleston were born, to the Latin Quarter where the Cha-Cha, Rumba and Salsa steamed up the stage, Burn the Floor takes audiences on a journey through the passionate drama of dance. The elegance of the Viennese Waltz, the exuberance of the Jive, the intensity of the Paso Doble – audiences will experience them all, as well as the Tango, Samba, Mambo, Quickstep and Swing.

9 to 5: The Musical

May 18-29 • 2011: 9  to  5: The Musical tells the story of three unlikely friends who conspire to take control of their company and learn there’s nothing they can’t do — even in a man’s world. Outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic, 9  to  5: The Musical is about teaming up and taking care of business… it’s about getting credit and getting even.

The most fun you will have all season, with its hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era. The new musical comedy, direct from Broadway, is based on the hit movie and features Dolly Parton’s original hit title song, along with her new Tony Award and Grammy® nominated score.

STOMP

June 7-12 • 2011: Explosive, provocative, sophisticated, sexy and utterly love; filled with laughter, soaring emotion unique, “STOMP” appeals to audiences of all and roof-raising rock ‘n’ roll. This one-week special returns to the Music Hall at Fair Park with new surprises!

STOMP is explosive, provocative, sophisticated, sexy, utterly unique and appeals to audiences of all ages. The international percussion sensation has garnered an armful of awards and rave reviews, and has appeared on numerous national television shows. The eight-member troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments – matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hub caps – to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms. Monty Python’s SPAMALOT

June 14-26 • 2011: Winner of the 2005 Tony® Award for Best Musical, Monty Python’s SPAMALOT, the musical comedy sensation lovingly ripped off from the film classic “Monty Python and The Holy Grail,” now returns to spread laughter and cheer throughout the kingdom. SPAMALOT tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. But before they can find their grail, they’re taking a little side-trip to the fair city of Dallas.

Throughout the show Arthur, traveling with his servant Patsy, recruits several knights to accompany him on his quest, including Sir Bedevere, Sir Robin, Sir Lancelot and Sir Galahad. They meet such characters as the Lady of the Lake, Prince Herbert, Tim the Enchanter, Not Dead Fred, the Black Knight and the Knights who say Ni in this hilarious musical ripped off from the beloved motion picture.

Guys and Dolls

July 19-31 • 2011: . This sparkling new production of the timeless Broadway classic, Guys and Dolls is  set in Damon Runyon’s mythical and musical  New York City. The oddball romantic comedy, considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy soars with the spirit of Broadway; The New York Times calls it “The show that defines Broadway dazzle!

West Side Story

October 4-23 • 2011: West Side Story is the 2011 State Fair of Texas musical. More than fifty years ago one musical changed theater forever. Now it’s back mesmerizing audiences once again. From the first note to the final breath, West Side Story soars as the greatest love story of all time. Directed by its two-time Tony Award-winning librettist Arthur Laurents, West Side Story remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever.

The Bernstein and Sondheim score is considered to be one of Broadway’s finest and features such classics of the American musical theatre as “Something’s Coming,” “Tonight,” “America,” “I Feel Pretty” and “Somewhere.”

The classic tale of “Romeo and Juliet” set in New York City in the 1950s. The two feuding families are replaced by brawling street gangs. The Montagues become the Anglo Jets, led by Riff, and the Capulets become the Puerto Rican Sharks, led by Bernardo. At a dance, Tony, former leader of the Jets and Riff’s best friend, and Maria, Bernardo’s little sister, see each other across the room and it’s love at first sight. With opposition from both sides, they meet secretly and their love grows deeper. However, the gangs are plotting one last rumble, a fight that will finally end the battle for control of the streets. Will Tony and Maria’s love carry through a battle that threatens to destroy the people they love around them?
