The Greek – Pita, Meze, Wine recently hosted the March luncheon meeting for the members of Corporate Concierge, inc. The Greek opened earlier this spring in One Arts Plaza in the former Dali Wine Bar space. It is a great location for lunch, pre-theater dinner or an after work happy hour.
Mary and Costa Arabatzis, also owners of Ziziki’s, feature fresh, flavorful dishes, all with the same, delicious ingredients that have been so popular at Ziziki’s for almost 20 years.
We started a sampling of appetizers from their Meze menu. To give us a good idea of what The Greek has to offer, each of us ordered different entrees from the lunch menu. Although we were more than pleased with our own selections, we couldn’t help but sample a taste from each other’s plates – everything was so good!
The Athens City Chicken Salad and the Lamb Sausage Flatbreads were especially impressive. As were the The Greek “French Dip” Pita and The Original Pita, with it’s crispy pork gyro and Greek Slaw. The best was yet to come! Our host treated us to a few of their yummy desserts. I loved the Chocolate Liquor Cake, served with homemade Greek yogurt ice cream. But there was a unanimous vote for the fresh baked Baklava. It was warm, flaky and wonderfully buttery. I highly recommend it.
An Exciting New Cocktail Menu for Happy Hour
The Greek recently unveiled an exciting menu of eight new cocktails created by their mixologist, Jason Kosmas. To celebrate these fabulous drinks, The Greek is launching a new Happy Hour with specials including wells and wines by the glass for $5 as well as free flat bread 4-6 pm, Tuesday – Friday.
The new cocktails have clever names such as The Onasis, Olympic Cup and The Greek Goddess. Jason includes spirits from his recently launched company called The Eighty Six Co.
The cocktails include unique ingredients and are paired to perfection with the menu items. “We are thrilled to have Jason collaborate with us in creating these new cocktails for our restaurants. All are quite refreshing. You’ll feel like you’re on a yacht in the Mediterranean as you sip on one of our new cocktails on our patio at THE GREEK overlooking the fountains at One Arts Plaza. This is a new venture for us that we’re excited to offer our customers. We have launched them at THE GREEK as well as our other two Ziziki’s locations. They add exotic flavors to our bar and we want everyone to enjoy them during our new Happy Hour”, says Mary Arabatzis, co-owner.
Jason Kosmas says, “I was really excited when The Greek approached me to craft their cocktail menu. Being from Greek descent, I jumped at the opportunity to create drinks that would speak of my upbringing. I didn’t want to go for obvious choices but to incorporate flavors and spirits in new and interesting ways. Together we created a menu that has classic variations yet is light-hearted with fresh offerings and some drinks that could only come from a Greek-American living in Texas.”
The Greek is open Mondays, 11 am – 2 pm, closed Monday evenings, Tuesday – Friday, 11 am – 2 pm and 4 pm– 10 pm and HAPPY HOUR Tuesday – Friday, 4 pm -6 pm. For reservations, please call (214) 999-1311. Valet parking is complimentary at lunch and $5 at dinner with validation.
