The Lion King opened last night at Music Hall at Fair Park, presented by Dallas Summer Musicals. The Tony Award winning Broadway show based on the popular Disney movie features an unforgettable score including Elton John and Tim Rice’s Oscar®-winning song “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” and “Circle of Life.”
Audiences marveled at the breathtaking spectacle of animals brought to life by award-winning director Julie Taymor, whose visual images for this show you’ll never forget. The people inside the spectacular masks and costumes bring to life giraffes, elephants and a herd of leaping gazelles. It brings to mind the artistry of the puppetry in War Horse.
The thrill of the pulsating rhythms of the African Pridelands and the sheer joy of the children sitting near by made this Broadway sensation even more enjoyable. The little boy sitting behind me was a big fan of the show and sang most of the songs.
